A fine Julien. The image seems created for that identification. It's interesting to contemplate a culture through the one boy known to all. Perhaps today there are no such cultures being formed or sustained. I know this truly is the case in the United States, which is conceived by its entire South as a heroically defiant illiterate, and by the rest of the nation as a deformity hatched from Southern degeneracy and indignation. But perhaps it's true, that the one boy we all know can come from real life, as well as literature. Give me the tragedy of literature, any day. And, give me Julien, even on his worst day.
